A New Pot Pourri & Fragrance for Autumn/Winter 2021
Updated: Nov 15, 2021
It's been a while since my last post but oh my, it has been so busy! With the launch of my ETSY store and a busy time in the studio getting Christmas ready, it has been non stop, but I've got my coffee on the desk, a packet of chocolate digestives and my laptop open so I thought it would be the perfect time to write a quick blog post to tell you all about my new fragrance - COCOA CABIN.
The beginnings of this fragrance go all the way back to 2010 when I stayed in the Sequoia Lodge Hotel at Disneyland Paris. The hotel describes itself as a lodge inspired by the American national parks, inviting you to relax in the cosy mountain retreat that has the authentic feel of a peaceful night spent around a flickering fireplace.
At the same time I was reading the Bill Bryson book A Walk In The Woods and found myself inspired to learn more about the National Parks of America and their history.
As is frequently the case for me when I become curious about a subject I become immersed and begin a journey down the rabbits hole, off on tangents and eager to experience more.
Fast forward to 2017 and I'm sitting in a log cabin in the Acadia National Park, a diverse landscape of woodland, lakes, glacier topped granite mounds and rocky beaches.
Outside reside moose, bears, seabirds and whales.
Inside the fireplace is less flickering and more roaring as we hurried to add more logs to intensify the heat as it was cold... really cold!
The night before staying at the lodge we had been invited to an early evening campfire where I was introduced to 'S'mores', a pillow of hot toasted melting marshmallow and a slab of chocolate sandwiched between two wheaten style biscuits aptly called s'mores as they leave you wanting 'some more'!
So back in the cabin sitting close to the fireplace I make several S'mores, a cashmere throw around my shoulders and a mug of hot chocolate (It was a can of powdered hot chocolate from Starbucks! If you're in the states I highly recommend you try it!) I spent the evening mesmerised by the flames as they filled the room with a gorgeous warmth that made the wooden pillars all around glow with festivity.
And that is where the Autumn/Winter Fragrance for 2021 began.
On creating the fragrance I wanted to provide the experience of contentment a warming mug of cocoa can bring with scents of chocolate and honey.
Blending authentically I captured the wisps of forest that seep through the wooden beams of the cabin, with resined ambers, cedar and hints of pine.
The fragrance takes on a romantic note with the evening offering a darker tone with woody spices, fire embers and ash from a cabin deep in the woods.
This is truly a gorgeous fragrance, it's rich, it's warm and above all else it's cosy.
Excitingly it is available in three forms, a room spray, pot pourri and a fragrance oil.
There are two options when it comes to buying Cocoa Cabin you can visit my website direct www.ginghamflorals.com or visit my new ETSY store.
