Why We’re Not Selling Reed Diffusers - And What It Means for Your Home Fragrance Experience

At Gingham Florals, our approach to fragrance is built around intention, nuance, and emotional connection. Each of our home fragrance products are carefully developed to evoke a sense of place, memory, or mood, always unfolding in three distinct layers. This layered fragrance experience is not just a feature of our products, it’s the heart of our brand.

Which brings us to a question we’re often asked:

“Do you sell reed diffusers?”

The honest answer? Not yet.

It’s not because we don’t love them, we absolutely do. The soft visual rhythm of the reeds, the elegant glass vessels, the subtle scent trail that lingers in the air… Reed diffusers are beautiful objects that sit naturally in thoughtfully styled interiors. Whether on a hallway console, a bedside table, or in a guest bathroom, they offer an aesthetic and atmospheric presence that aligns perfectly with the Gingham Florals philosophy.

Yes, we love how they look too...

But here’s the thing: a diffuser’s performance is only as good as the fragrance within it and ours aren’t ready. Yet.

Why We’re Still Developing

Our signature is layered fragrance. That means when you spray one of our mists, position our pot pourri or diffuse one of our oils you don’t just get a flat, one-note scent. You get top notes that introduce the mood, heart notes that define the feeling, and base notes that leave a lasting impression.

Translating that kind of complexity into a reed diffuser format is more challenging than it might seem.

Many diffuser bases, while excellent at diffusion, can blur the layers of a scent. What emerges is a single blended note, often lovely, but not reflective of the Gingham Florals experience. We’ve tested, reformulated, rebalanced and still, we’re not quite there. The top notes don’t lift as they should. The heart gets lost. The base doesn’t anchor in the way we expect it to.

And so, for now, we wait.

We believe that home fragrance should do more than just smell nice. It should transform your space. It should tell a story. And it should evolve over time, just like the atmosphere of your home does throughout the day.

A design for adventure...

Until we can develop a reed diffuser that throws fragrance in three distinct, evolving layers, we’ll continue working quietly in the background, blending, testing, and dreaming.

We’d rather delay a launch than compromise on the standard you’ve come to expect from us.
