From One Instagram Like to a Little Bit of Magic

What a fortnight it’s been at www.ginghamflorals.com!
We launched our brand-new website, took our first wobbly steps into the world of Instagram and yes, we got an Instagram like. One solitary like. And we couldn’t be prouder.
Now, we know what you’re thinking... “One like? That’s hardly cause for celebration.”
But if you knew how much we’ve struggled with Instagram, you’d absolutely get it!
What did we do before social media?
In our case, we spent a lot more time smelling the roses - literally.
Now? We’re knee-deep in hashtags, filters, and trying to work out why our feed is full of celebrities posing with poolside pastries and giant bars of Dubai chocolate. Are we doing it wrong? Probably. Are we learning? Slowly. Are we giving up? Never.
We’re much more at home on Facebook, where our little community is starting to grow. We’ve really enjoyed chatting with followers, replying to your kind comments, and slowly figuring out how to present our brand in a way that feels true to us. We’re still finding our feet (why do the same stories keep reappearing?!), but thank you for your patience and your support as we grow.
A Message That Made Us Cry (The Good Kind)
But all that aside, the real highlight of our week came not from the screen, but from our inbox.
On Tuesday evening, as Peter was processing orders for the next day, we received an email with the subject line: “Absolutely Perfect!”
Here’s what it said:
“I just wanted to write to say thank you. I was looking for a birthday gift for a friend and discovered your site through their Facebook. The description of Cocoa Cabin was spot on they loved it and the bowl! I was delighted to find two extra bottles of your fragrance oils included for free which I’m keeping for myself (and I absolutely love them). My friend follows you but hadn’t seen your website, now she wants to order your pot pourri to fill her bowl. I honestly couldn’t believe the site had only just launched it looks like a multinational brand! Congratulations on starting your business I’ll definitely be back for more.”
Cue the tears. Yes, I’m a crier and proud of it!
In that moment, every late night, every label printed, every fumbled Instagram post, it all felt worth it. We created something that made someone’s day, and that’s what matters most to us.
Naturally, we couldn’t let such a lovely message go without a thank-you of our own so we sent a little extra treat their way as well.
...And Then There Were Three
Just when we thought the week couldn’t get better, this morning, we checked our Instagram again.
Three likes.
Yes, THREE!
We know it’s a small thing, but every tiny moment of encouragement means the world to us. From one like to three, and from one customer to a growing family of fragrance lovers, this is how it all begins.
From little acorns, big dreams grow. Thank you for being part of ours.
